Price floors and the agri-food sector

This Wednesday, 11 December 2024, in its 7 a.m. news program, France Culture analyzes the results of a research note on the pros and cons of introducing price floors in the agri-food sector.

Co-authored by Rémi Avignon and Etienne Guigue and published by the Institut des Politiques Publiques (IPP), the note shows that a floor price on raw materials can be a source of efficiency in sectors where farmers face buyers with monopsony power, i.e. who are able to exert a downward pressure on prices, as is the case, for example, in the cow's milk sector.
