New project STEP UP

Our projects

SMART is participating in the recently launched Horizon Europe research project STEP UP (Sustainable Livestock Systems Transition and Evidence Platform for Upgrading Policies).

STEP UP is a four-year European research project (2024 to 2027) designed to support the development of more sustainable European livestock production systems. The project is coordinated by Teagasc and brings together 16 partners from 10 countries, including INRAE for France. Five INRAE research units are involved, including SMART through the participation of Agneta Forslund.

The aim of the project is to identify and analyze innovative livestock production systems, and to propose ways and strategies for improving traditional systems, in order to achieve more sustainable livestock production. The project covers all terrestrial animal production sectors, and all European territories.
