Our projects

Since 28 September, RefFlux has been making available Sankey diagrams for 10 French agricultural and food sectors, representing 19,000 product flows from farm to fork.

Launched in September 2022 as part of the RMT Filarmoni in partnership with TerriFlux and Le Basic, and with financial support from ADEME and FranceAgriMer, the RefFlux project drew on the network of agricultural technical institutes and researchers, including Fabrice Levert, brought together in a working group dedicated to methods for analysing and mapping flows in agri-food chains.

Released online on Thursday 28 September 2023, the results of RefFlux provide a shared repository of material flows in French agricultural sectors, which can be used by economic stakeholders and practitioners, as well as by academics.

The 1,280 data items describing and measuring the processing of these agricultural and food producs were extracted by Le Basic for the public data, and by the technical institutes for the data constructed by experts. The tools developed by TerriFlux for producing Sankey diagrams, together with its data reconciliation and uncertainty management methods, were used to calculate more than 19,000 flows, providing a detailed description of the various processing phases within the sectors. The 38 final views serve as an entry point for exploring the immense richness of this analysis.
